Canonball Hires National Sales Director, Shanker Chalekode

Summary:  Canonball hires National Sales Director, mirroring migration trend from public companies to independent firms.

Dallas, Texas March 24, 2016

Shanker Chalekode from CanonballThe cultures at independent marketing and advertising agencies are becoming more and more attractive—even to corporate professionals. Canonball’s latest hire mirrors this migration from large public companies to independent firms, in which corporate professionals are seeking creative environments and company visions that extend beyond profits.

Canonball, a marketing agency in downtown Dallas, just welcomed a new National Sales Director, Shanker Chalekode (previously with Fortune-150 transportation company, Union Pacific Railroad). In his former role, Chalekode and his team managed an account base totaling several hundred million dollars across the energy and construction markets of DFW, West Texas, and Oklahoma—something he’s given up in the interest of passion and a fresh opportunity to make a difference:

I wanted to be part of a team where passion—not just a paycheck—was the driving force. Spending nine years on the corporate side has provided me with an incredible amount of valuable experiences, which I’m excited to translate to Canonball. Being nimble and responsive to your clients with the intent to foster their growth has always been paramount to me. My role at Canonball provides me an avenue to be just that with an insanely driven and talented team of people.

At Canonball, Chalekode will be responsible for the strategy and execution of all marketing & sales activities that impact client-agency relationship and revenue generation. This includes client management, new business development, product/service development, and market research.

Recently, we’ve seen other big moves by corporate professionals, including Shelley Widom’s arrival at the Addison Treehouse. Even big corporate cultures are adopting the startup mentality, which were pioneered by companies like Google, Facebook, and Netflix.

I came to Canonball for the culture—from both an internal and external perspective. Internally, Canonball is vibrant, flexible, and wildly creative. From an external perspective, the culture is client-centric. Canonball’s success is a byproduct of their clients’ success, and nothing comes without delivering exceptional service.
